The Kumho FIA TCR World Tour arrives to France with a new points leader: Geely Cyan Racing's Santiago Urrutia who established a new record for the series during the previous event in Valencia, when he became the first driver to score a hat-trick of race wins in the same weekend.
These results helped the Uruguayan driver to build a lead of twenty points ahead of his teammate Thed Björk, while the previous leader Mikel Azcona of BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse has slipped to third, nine points further adrift.
Azcona's teammate Norbert Michelisz and SP Compétition Aurelien Comte follow in fourth and fifth positions with gaps of 34 and 37 points respectively.
A pair of DNFs in Spain have dropped the reigning champion Yann Ehrlacher to sixth, 73 points behind.
One of the drivers who is eager to claim good results in France is Jenson Brickley with the Honda Civic FL5 entered by ALM Motorsport. The 2025 TCR Europe champion has already proved his potential in the previous events, leading the field in Misano and then in Valencia where he was deprived of a possible victory by a turbo failure with just three laps left.
The latest addition to the entry list is Tom Pussier who replaces Jean-Karl Vernay who is still recovering from his foot injury in one of the SP Compétition-run CUPRA cars. Tom, the son of team principal Sylvain Pussier, comes from claiming his maiden TCR victory in the FFSA TC France at Spa-Francorchamps.
